Daniel Radcliffe grew up as Harry Potter on the big screen, and says he has outgrown the role. But given the opportunity, he would play the wizard's father, James.
"No more schoolboy stuff. A cameo as Harry's dad? That would be perfect!" Radcliffe told Time Out.
"Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling has released a single standalone book since the series ended in 2007, and Radcliffe said he doesn't expect her to reprise the Potter novels, Inquisitr reported.
If Rowling changes her mind about returning to the wizarding world, Radcliffe said the role of James Potter is one he would consider.
Radcliffe has worked to distance himself from "Harry Potter" and avoid being typecast, including a stint on Broadway starring in "How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" and "Equus."
Radcliffe, 23, said the opportunity to play James Potter reminded him of his own desire to be a father. Radcliffe and his girlfriend split last year, but he plans to find the mother for his children by 30.
"I'd like to get started on it before my 30s," Radcliffe told The Independent. "I like the idea of being a youngish parent, so I've got energy to play football."
Watching his friends raise their own children has made Radcliffe anxious for the change and "sense of purpose" that comes with having children, he said.
