Hundreds of fans from David Beckham's new soccer team, Paris St. Germain, were involved in a riot that took place Monday during a celebration over the team's victory.

The Daily Mail reports the rampage stemmed off a celebratory parade that was taking place around the Arc de Triomphe. Protesters were reportedly lifting the Paris St. Germain trophy a few minutes before the fight broke out.

Several near-by establishments and restaurants had to close for the evening due to the incident and the rest of the celebratory activities, including a tour of the Seine river, were cancelled.

Parisian police reportedly showed up to the scene of the riot -- where cars were getting burnt and shops were being looted -- with tear gas.

"The Champs Elysees is a battlefield," a photographer said of the scene. "‘There are youths smashing shop windows and stealing everything they can. They are also attacking cars and motorbikes."

According to the Mail, this is the first time in 19 years that Paris St. Germain wins a championship trophy. And in spite being one of the richest soccer clubs in the world it has never been able to "shake off its hooligan following."
