Donald Trump takes stand in Chicago trial brought by condo buyer

Flamboyant television personality, former presidential contender and real estate magnate Donald Trump appeared in court Tuesday for the opening arguments of a lawsuit charging him with breach of contract and deceptive practices over a couple of his condo units. An 85-year-old mother of four sued him for reneging on the terms of a condo purchase, the Chicago Tribune reported Tuesday.

According to Jackie Goldberg's lawyers, she casually invests in real estate as a "hobby," and was seduced into buying two $1 million condo units in Chicago's Trump Tower with the promise of a revenue-sharing plan. Goldberg said that Trump's hotel changed the deal after she'd put down a $516,000 deposit.

"Trump totally changed the deal," the plaintiff's attorney, Shelly Kulwin, said. "He was the sole and ultimate authority on everything Trump."

“I love Chicago. It went well.” Trump called out to reporters as he left the courthouse.

Trumps lawyer said Goldberg was told that the terms of the deal might change and could have backed away.
