'Michael J. Fox Show' trailer: Star returns to TV with comedy about Parkinson's

By KATE STANTON, UPI.com

Here's the trailer for Michael J. Fox's much-anticipated comedy about a man who balances family life with Parkinson's Disease. Fox plays Mike Burnaby in the sitcom, which is loosely based on his own experiences as a man who retires to spend time with his family, then goes back to work. Fox hasn't starred on a show since his turn as New York City's deputy mayor in "Spin City."

Critics are pleased with the look and tone of the trailer so far, which cracks pretty hilarious jokes about illness that are neither pandering nor offensive.

Fox clearly "clearly has a refreshing and humorous take on his own experience," Slate's Aisha Harris wrote.

"The tone of this single camera sitcom appears to be razor sharp -- and more than happy to make fun of the treacly poignancy that often gets heaped upon Fox," Hitfix's Liane Bonin Starr said.

NBC is so confident about the show's chances that it has already ordered 22 episodes, according to E! Online. The show will air Thursdays at 9:30pm.
