Amid claims that Charles Ramsey is the hero behind the rescue of three women who had been kidnapped for the past 10 years, Angel Cordero has come forward to rectify the story and declare it was him who set Amanda Berry free.

WEWSTV reports Cordero claims he arrived to Berry's rescue long before Ramsey made the 911 call reporting the incident.

"In truth -- who arrived here, who crossed the street, who broke the door -- it was me ... I did what had to be done," Cordero told reporters in Spanish adding that "[Ramsey] arrived when she was already outside with the girl."

At one point during Ramsey's viral interview the helpful neighbor talks about a "we" when describing the incident. According to WEWS, Cordero is the other member of that we, as it was him who allegedly crossed the street and broke the door so Berry could come out.

"She told me ... that she had been held, kidnapped, for 10 years,” Cordero told CNN en Español.

Wintel Tejeda, who lives across the street from the house where the women were being held, also stepped forward to claim Berry had used his phone to make the 911 call, however, it was Ramsey who got all the glory.

When asked if he thought he was a hero for what he had done, Cordero smiled and said, "I helped her. And I was first."
