By KATE STANTON, UPI.com

A 12-year-old boy named Jeremy captured footage of himself questioning a Las Vegas cop on his illegal parking job, then promptly posted the video to the Internet.

In the YouTube clip, which now boasts more than 2 million views, Jeremy approaches the unidentified police officer with a simple question:

"Is there a reason for you to park on the sidewalk? Is it an emergency or anything?" he asks the officer, who refuses to answer the question or give Jeremy his badge number.

When the officer asks Jeremy why he wants his badge number, he replies, "Because I have the right to."

"Are you a lawyer?" the police officer asks sarcastically, before driving off.

When it hit Reddit, the viral video ignited a debate about whether Jeremy had performed a necessary check on the power of police officers, or if he was just being annoying.

"20 bucks says this kid grows up to have no friends," wrote one Redditor.

"If I was rich I'd give this kid a free college education," wrote another. "[It] actually gives me hope for his generation."
