The Beatles set the record with their 1963 debut album "Please Please Me," which spent 62 weeks in the UK's Top 10 chart.

Sandé's album had sold 1.82 million copies and broke the 100,000-sales in a week record three times.

The album has had three number one UK singles, "Read All About It," "Beneath Your Beautiful" and "Next To Me."

Of her new record, the 26-year-old singer said it was "quite surreal to even have your name mentioned in the same sentence as The Beatles."
