Part of LaGuardia Airport was evacuated over a "suspicious package," USA Today reported.
The alleged threat was incited by an electrical device found at a phone booth.
According to ABC 7 sources claimed wires appeared to be coming from the package and a substance that looked like marihuana was seen next to the bag.
A similar incident occurred at Boston Logan Airport as US Airways Flight 176 had a luggage-related security scare.
Airport officials reported both incidents in the wake of the twin bombings that killed three and injured 174 people at the Boston Marathon on Monday. Both airports have since been given an "all-clear."
