Nicolas Maduro beat Henrique Capriles Radonski in an election for the 2013-2019 Venezuelan presidential term on Sunday, El Universal reported.
National Electoral Council President Tibisay Lucena said Maduro was elected President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela after winning 7,505,338 votes, the equivalent of 50.66 percent of the popular vote. The opposing candidate, Henrique Capriles Radonski, won a total of 7,270,403 votes or 49.07 percent of the vote.
