A Texas high school student was suspended from school for tweeting a photo of a standardized test and calling it "unneeded."

KENS 5 reports Kyron Birdine, a junior at Arlington High School, didn't need to take the state's new STAAR exam to graduate, because his grade level is still assessed by the now-retired TAKS testing standards. However, the school still made him take the test. In turn, Birdine decided to write how he felt on the test sheet, take a picture of it and tweet it.

"I have the TAKS test to study for, not this unneeded craziness," he wrote in the essay section of the test along with the word YOLO -- short for You Only Live Once -- and a smiley face.

Birdine then took a photo of his message and tweeted it to the Arlington Independent School District and the Texas Education Agency (TEA). After the post went live, school officials took him out of the classroom and suspended him for four days for a "breach of security."

Birdline's mother, Kiana Daw, thought the punishment didn't quite fit the crime.

"I think it's excessive punishment," she said. "That's the type of punishment you should get for something really severe."

Later that day the Arlington Independent School District released the following statement:

Today there was an incident with a student tweeting a picture of an answer booklet for a STAAR field test. We have made an initial report of the incident to TEA and will continue to investigate further. The student has been punished in accordance with district disciplinary procedures.

After the incident became public, the hashtag #FreeKyron has gone viral as supporters deman the teen be freed from suspension.

As for Birdine, he says he just did what every teen wants to do.

"Just did what every junior wanted to do," he tweeted later that day adding, "At this rate I'd make a better president than Obama."
