A 21-month-old Georgia girl died after she was mauled by seven dogs as her grandmother slept nearby.
Bryan County Police were called to investigate the little girl's death around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. The girl's grandmother was napping in the house and was awakened by a commotion outside her window.
Police told the Savannah Morning News the grandmother was not in time to save the child.
It was unclear how the toddler was able to get outside. Police said her 12-year-old brother was at home at the time of the attack and may have let her outside to play, or she may have used a doggie door.
The family owned nine dogs, and the girl reportedly played with them often. The seven involved in the attack were all pit bull and pit bull mixes and were all euthanized by Bryan County Animal Control after the attack.
