[VIDEO] New sinkhole in Seffner, Florida

A third sinkhole has appeared in Seffner, Florida, just a few blocks from where Jeff Bush was killed in his sleep as a geological depression swallowed his bed.

ABC news reports the latest sinkhole that opened up in the residential neighborhood is about 10 feet deep and 8 feet wide and has caused great panic in the community since it was found on Saturday.

"I was scared that maybe it'll be our house next," said Gabriela Pazmino, the girl who discovered the sinkhole while standing with friends by an ice cream truck.

After spotting the hole in the ground, Pazmino, 11, told her father about her discovery. He alerted the authorities, who rushed to the neighborhood and evacuated two nearby houses.

According to geo-technical engineer John Marquardt, the emergence of sinkholes is a common event. However, so-called deadly sinkholes that swallow and kill people are very rare.

Seffner's new sinkhole is located on the 1400 block of Lake Shore Drive between two houses, only a mile and a half away from where Bush was killed.

Florida sinkholes are caused by the state's porous geological bedrock, according to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. The sunshine state is one of two states -- the other one being Tennessee -- where home insurance providers are required to cover damage related to earth movement, The Christian Science Monitor noted.
