Former Oakland University student Joseph Corlette is suing the Michigan school that suspended him for turning in a sexually suggestive essay to his English teacher, Pamela Mitzelfeld, whom he described as "tall, blond, stacked, skirt, heels, fingernails, smart, articulate, smile. I am toast but I stay."
Corlette, 57, titled the essay "Hot for Teacher," after the 1984 Van Halen hit.
According to the Detroit News, Corlette is now living in Sarasota, Fla., with his wife of 31 years, but he wants $2 million from the school he believes violated his free speech.
"I can't, as an American in good conscience, stand by while such outrageous and egregious violations of civil rights transpire in higher education. I couldn't sleep at night," Corlette said of the lawsuit.
The university suspended Corlette for three semesters and required him to attend sensitivity training.
