Three inmates, two of whom were murder suspects, escaped from a prison in southeast Missouri on Monday.

The Examiner reports Matthew Brandon Cook, Kade Reaves Stringfellow, and Rodney Joe Green, all of whom were awaiting trial, escaped the Butler County Jail in Poplar Bluff around 11:30 p.m. on Monday.

The three men are considered to be extremely dangerous and possibly armed.

"With the severity of their crimes they were being held for, we do believe it's possible they may have the capability to get their hands on weapons," said Frank Casteel, 911 director for Butler County.

Cook, 29, was in prison after being charged with first degree murder, robbery and other crimes. Stringfellow, 23, was imprisoned after he was charged with second degree murder and Green was in jail for breaking into a family home and holding the occupants at gunpoint.
