On Thursday, Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the social media site will be getting a new look.
During the press event Zuckerberg stressed the importance of the News Feed as one of Facebook's "most important" features and addressed the evolution of social media, which has gone from being text-oriented to multimedia-oriented in a matter of years.
Facebook's new News Feed features three major components -- via Mashable:"How we're all sharing is changing and the News Feed needs to evolve with those changes. This is the evolving face of News Feed," Zuckerberg told the audience.
- Bigger Images: Translates into more white space and less word clutter.
- Multiple Feeds: Users will be able to pick from several different feeds including "Most Recent," "Friends," "Photos" and "Music" categories.
- Mobile Consistency: The new News Feed was inspired by mobile apps for phones and tablets and will be consistent in all devices.
