Baby Gorilla at Cincinnati Zoo cared for by human surrogates after mother rejects her

The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden is excited to announce they have a new baby gorilla in the house. The nearly 4-week-old female gorilla was born at the he Gladys Porter Zoo (GPZ), in Brownsville, Texas and arrived in Cincinnati on Feb. 22. The baby was transferred to be raised by humans after her mother rejected her.

The Zoo said the baby will spend some time behind the scene in the zoo's Children's Zoo nursery while they run a few checkups, but will be moved into the Gorilla World exhibit once the vets give the infant primate a clean bill of health.
