During his response to the State of the Union, Marco Rubio paused to take a sip of water, setting off a firestorm of tweets and memes. It was an offhand gesture, but it captured the attention of the Internet in the way only such small moments can.
Immediately following the speech, #songsforrubio and #rubiofilms were trending topics, as was #watergate--which certainly wasn't referring to the hotel or President Nixon's downfall. Several comedic Twitter accounts, including @RubioH2OBottle were immediately launched.
When all is said and done, Rubio's water bottle may be the most memorable moment from the 2013 State of the Union.
Rubio himself had probably the best response of them all, tweeting a photo of the water bottle shortly after the speech ended.
