Despite a mournful report from Texas radio station WBAP, former President George H.W. Bush has not, in fact, died.

WBAP reported Thursday, in an erroneous report flagged by the Dallas Observer, that the former president had died, sending out a breaking news bulletin.

The station later released a statement apologizing for the error.

Bush is in fact alive, although he remains in the ICU at Methodist Hospital in Houston, where he has been treated for a fever. His chief of staff, Jean Becker, told supporters that the former President "has every intention of staying put."

"Put the harps back in the closet," Becker said.

Bush has been in and out of the hospital since he was admitted on Nov. 7 for a bronchitis-like cough.
