He didn't come in the Batsuit, but perhaps that's for the best.

Actor Christian Bale, star of "The Dark Knight Rises," dropped by the Aurora, Colo., hospital where many of the victims from Friday's horrific movie theater shooting spree are recovering from their wounds.

One of the victims, Carey Rottman, posted the above photo of himself with Bale to his Facebook page.

"Mr. Bale is there as himself, not representing Warner Brothers," an assistant for Susan Fleishman, executive vice president of Warner Brothers, the studio behind "The Dark Knight" trilogy, told the Denver Post.

Bale previously released a statement expressing sympathy for the victims of the shooting.

"Words cannot express the horror that I feel. I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them," he said.

Seventy people were shot and 12 killed at a midnight screening of "The Dark Knight Rises" in Aurora on Friday, and many still remain hospitalized. Alleged shooter James Holmes is due to be charged on July 30.
