Feb. 4 (UPI) -- Vice President JD Vance will attend conferences on technology and international security in Europe next week as part of his first overseas travel since taking office.

At the AI Action Summit in France, Vance will gather with other heads of state and tech executives to examine how governments around the world should respond to artificial intelligence and its fast-moving advances.

Vance will then travel to Germany for the Munich Security Conference to discuss the potential threats of technology. Former Vice President Kamala Harris and billionaire Elon Musk, who is now heading the Trump administration's Department of Government Efficiency, both attended the conference in 2023.

The Munich trip, which takes place Feb. 14-16, could also mark the first time the Trump White House has come face-to-face with European leaders since the administration started setting its priorities toward the allies. That includes Trump demanding that they spend more money on defense.

Harris was able to bolster her foreign policy credentials at the Munich summit as she meet with many allied leaders during the height of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The AI Action Summit in Paris on Feb. 10-11, will happen at the Grand Palais, as the fallout continued over the Chinese AI startup DeepSeek. The development has rapidly grown in popularity but is already banned in Italy over privacy concerns.
