By Wade Sheridan

Palestinians observe Ramadan, the holiest month on the Islamic calendar, in Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip on March 11, 2024. The month of fasting and prayer takes place this year amid a war between Israel and Hamas, with millions dislocated from their homes and food and other necessities in short supply. Ramadan runs through April 9.
