Behind the scenes at China's animatronic dinosaur factory (13 images)
Animatronic dinosaur manufacturer Gengu Longteng Science and Technology Co. supplies the world with prehistoric simulations for shows and exhibits. The company was midway through its creative process on the next batch in Zigong, Sichuan Province, China, on Saturday. Gengu is the area's leading producer of robotic dinosaurs, with one of more than 30 Chinese companies in Zigong that produce about 90 percent of the simulation dinosaurs exported around the world. Gengu was established in 2007. The warehouse where it creates the animatronic creatures is not far from the dinosaur digging site at the UNESCO Dashanpu Dinosaur Fossil site which is the largest in the world for protected dinosaur fossils.
A Chinese employee works on the mold of a dinosaur. The research and development team at Gengu Longteng created these lifelike replicas that have 15 movements and are working to advance them to walk and have semi-intelligent features.
