Philippines typhoon death toll tops 6000

2,000 people are still missing.

Dec. 13 (UPI) -- One of the world's strongest typhoons struck the Philippines killing more than 6,000 just over a month ago, with nearly 2,000 people still missing

The current death toll has been put at 6,009 the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Thursday. Super Typhoon Haiyan ravished the central islands of the Philippines. The United Nations has asked donors to increase their emergency aid donations by more than double to the Philippines in order to reach the $791 million to cover needs over 12 months.
