Nov. 23 (UPI) -- Indonesian officials have raised the volcano alert to the highest status and asked people to stay at least three miles away.

Since September, Mt. Sinaburg has been active and over the past weekend it shot rocks and ash into the air.

“We have raised the status to ‘caution’, which is the highest of levels for volcanic activity because we anticipate there will be more eruptions and because the intensity of eruptions has been increasing,” the National Disaster Mitigation Agency said in a statement.

The volcano has been dormant since 2010, but the last time it erupted at least two people were killed and around 30,000 were displaced.
