14 white lions, other animals seized in raid on Bangkok home

Local wildlife officers joined police for a raid on a home in Bangkok's Klong Sam Wa district on Monday, where they discovered hundreds of animals were living, according to the Bangkok Post.

Of the 200-300 hundred animals found on the 34,000-square foot home, police found the following:

14 white lions, four otter civets, two hornbills, one loris and 23 meerkats. At least 1,000 sugar gliders, 12 peacocks, 13 turtles, six minks, four miniature pigs, 17 marmosets, a number of birds.

According to the Post, authorities also obtained "some stuffed animals."

Police arrested the home owner, 41-year-old Montri Boonprom-orn, who claimed that all the animals were imported legally.
