SEOUL, Nov. 17 (UPI) -- South Korea's CJ OliveNetworks announced its artificial intelligence system has helped create an anthology of poems called 9+i.

The Seoul-based system integrator's novel platform, named Oi Writer, has achieved the feat after machine-learning more than 30,000 poems from various genres.

With a few keywords, a person can expect the system to generate a draft of a poem almost instantaneously.

To get the AI poem generator ready, CJ OliveNetworks worked with nine poets over the past eight months.

These nine poets utilized the generator to finalize 45 poems for the anthology, among which eight were by amateur poets from CJ OliveNetworks' research team.

Oi Writer comes in two versions -- professional and basic. The professional creates eight drafts based on specific keywords, while the basic version creates four, according to CJ OliveNetworks.

The company also plans to release 20 videos on YouTube next month in which AI-created radio actors will read the poems.

"Oi Writer is designed to show that AI serves a very useful function for creators and artists," CJ OliveNetworks said in a statement. "Our hope is that more and more poets and other artists will cooperate with us."

Observers expect there will be an increasing number of artists adopting AI technologies.

"AI is changing the face of the industry across the board. Not only that, the new technology is also making inroads into the cultural arena as well, demonstrated by the popularity of virtual characters," Korean business tracker Leaders Index CEO Park Ju-gun told UPI News Korea.

"We will see more paintings, novels and poems produced by AI or AI-based tools down the road," he said.
