Aug. 16 (UPI) -- Chinese-Canadian pop star Kris Wu was arrested in Beijing on Monday on suspicion of rape. Wu allegedly repeatedly seduced young women into having sex, police said Saturday night. An investigation into Wu and other allegations of date rape are underway.

Allegations were first made last month on China's social media platform Weibo.
A beauty influencer under the name Du Meizhu said she was sexually assaulted by Wu -- whose Chinese name is Wu Yifan -- while she was a student at the Communication University of China in Beijing. She was 17 at the time. Meizhu also said that Wu raped other women.
Wu denied the allegations on his personal Weibo, and his company said it would pursue legal action against the woman. He was detained by police July 31.
He has been dropped from sponsorships by major brands like Louis Vuitton, Bulgari, and Porsche following the accusations.
