March 4 (UPI) -- Britain's Prince Philip is recovering Thursday after undergoing a medical procedure for a heart condition at a London hospital, where he's been for more than two weeks, Buckingham Palace said. Officials said doctors performed the unspecified surgical procedure on Philip after he'd spent several days in hospital for what's been described as a precautionary measure. The prince has been hospitalized since Feb. 16.

"The Duke of Edinburgh [Wednesday] underwent a successful procedure for a pre-existing heart condition at St. Bartholomew's Hospital," Buckingham Palace said in a statement, according to The Times.
"His royal highness will remain in the hospital for treatment, rest and recuperation for a number of days."
Prince Philip, who will turn 100 in June, was originally taken to King Edward VII's Hospital in London and was later transferred this week to the city's St. Bartholomew's Hospital, which specializes in cardiac care.
Physicians performed an angioplasty and stenting procedure on Prince Philip in 2011 for a blocked coronary artery.
Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth II, who stepped away from public life in 2017, have lived most of the past year amid the COVID-19 pandemic at Windsor Castle instead of Buckingham Palace.
