Dec. 26 (UPI) -- Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said Wednesday a month-long imposition of martial law has ended.
Poroshenko imposed martial law Nov. 26 after Russia seized three Ukrainian boats and their sailors in the Sea of Azov. A video had surfaced showing Russian sailors ramming a Ukrainian tugboat.
The martial law was in effect along Ukraine's border with Russian and other areas, and prevented Russian men of military age from entering the country.
Poroshenko set the martial law for 30 days and it officially expired at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
"This is my principled decision. It is based on an analysis of all components of the current security situation in the state," he said.
Russia has since deployed 10 fighter jets to the Crimean peninsula in anticipation that Ukraine will begin a "provocation" there before the end of the year.
