Nov. 18 (UPI) -- The U.S.-led coalition denied Sunday airstrikes in a town controlled by the Islamic State in eastern Syria killed civilians.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the strikes killed 43 people, including 36 family members in the village of Abou al-Hassan, early Saturday. Another seven victims had not yet been identified as civilians or Islamic State fighters, it said. SANA, the news agency run by the Syrian government that has aligned itself against the U.S. coalition, reported 40 civilians, mostly women and children, died in the airstrikes.
