May 18 (UPI) -- French Interior Minister Gérard Collomb said Friday authorities have foiled a planned terrorist attack and arrested two Egyptian men in the case.

Authorities said the men they detained are brothers who'd obtained a tutorial on how to use the poison ricin in an attack.

"An attack involving two nationals of Egyptian nationality was foiled this week in Paris. Our services were based in particular on a home visit," Collomb tweeted.

"We happen to be following a certain number of people on networks, but they happened to be on [an encrypted email application]," he added. "We were able to detect them, to detect this project of attack and the stop."

The announcement comes nearly a week after a terrorist knife attack in Paris that killed one and wounded four others. The attacker was later identified as a French national born in southwest Russia.

Authorities in that case said Friday they have arrested and charged an acquaintance of the attacker with conspiracy.
