Nov. 4 (UPI) -- A U.S. service member has died after suffering injuries during an operation in Afghanistan, Operation Resolute Support announced Saturday.

The NATO-led mission said in a release that the service member's operation took place in Logar province. A NATO helicopter crashed last week in the province in an incident that wasn't due to enemy fire.

One U.S. service member died and six others were injured in that crash, which the operation said it would investigate.

"On behalf of U.S. Forces - Afghanistan, we offer our deepest condolences to the family of our fallen brother," General John Nicholson, commander of U.S. Forces in Afghanistan said in a statement Saturday after the most recent death. "Despite this tragic event, we remain steadfast in our commitment to the Afghan people and to support them in our mutual fight against terrorism."
