Oct. 14 (UPI) -- Gunmen, one of whom was a suspended student, killed five students and a night watchman at a school in northern Kenya in a revenge attack, police said.
The incident took place at AIC Lokichogio Secondary School in the town of Lokichogio, on the border with South Sudan. Police said the student, who is from South Sudan, was suspended from the school for fighting with another student. Prior to leaving, the student made verbal threats of violence.
That night between 3:30 and 4 a.m., the suspect and two accomplices returned to the school armed with guns and went on a violent rampage. Five students and the security guard were killed. Two female students were raped. School officials said they had not yet determined how many more students were injured. The BBC reported the number of injured was 18.
The suspect was arrested by police, but a lynch mob descended on the police station, hauling him out of the building and hanging him by the neck.
