Sept. 22 (UPI) -- Top officials in Pyongyang's Korean Workers' Party met on Friday to discuss "follow-up measures" related to Kim Jong Un's statement regarding U.S. President Donald Trump's address to the United Nations General Assembly, according to state-controlled media.

In a rare announcement about the regularly held meeting of the central committee of the Korean Workers' Party, KCNA reported the gathering was held to rally around an "anti-American showdown," and realize "final victory."

State media also said vice chairman of the central committee of the Workers' Party Choe Ryong Hae presided over the meeting and top officials including former Foreign Minister Ri Su Yong and propaganda chief Kim Ki Nam were in attendance.

According to KCNA, each official took turns strongly denouncing Trump and his keynote address to the United Nations General Assembly.

They each described Trump as a "crazed hoodlum," "toxic gangster," or "dotard," the report stated.

North Korean officials described Trump's speech as "the most outrageous declaration of war against our republic, " and said Trump's statements is "priming powder" that is setting "tens of millions civilians in ultra-response mode."

The North Korean report came the same day Trump spoke to supporters in Huntsville, Ala., where he again referred to the North Korean leader as "Rocket Man," then again as "Little Rocket Man."

North Korea stated Friday the country has been carefully preparing weapons "that the world has yet to know about," and called Trump's suggestion the United States would "totally destroy" North Korea in the event of conflict as "grotesque."

KCNA also said a price would be paid for Trump's words.
