Aug. 23 (UPI) -- North Korea mocked U.S. President Donald Trump's tweeting habits, describing his statements on the social network as "weird" and "ego-driven" after Trump told supporters in Arizona Kim Jong Un has finally learned to "respect" the United States.

Pyongyang's state-controlled news agency KCNA stated Trump habitually posts "weird articles of his ego-driven thoughts in his twitter" and "spouts rubbish to make his assistants have a hard time."

The statement came a day after U.S. President Donald Trump told supporters in Arizona that his North Korea policy may be working and North Korea's Kim Jong Un has "started to respect" the United States.

"But, Kim Jong Un, I respect the fact that I believe he is starting to respect us," Trump said. "I respect that fact very much. Respect that fact."

North Korea also recently warned Washington against "rash acts" during ongoing joint U.S.-South Korea drills.

"Needless to say, we will ultimately not stand by and watch the dangerous pranks of the stupid fools before our nuclear and chemical weapons. Our blood boils with the will to retaliate and destroy our enemy," a North Korea propaganda committee on "peace" said.

Trump regularly -- though not often -- tweets about North Korea and warns the Kim Jong Un regime against acting "unwisely."
