Afghan mosque blast kills, injures dozens

Aug. 1 (UPI) -- A bombing at a Shiite mosque in western Afghanistan's Herat city Tuesday killed and injured dozens of people, security officials said.

A security source told Khaama Press at least 20 people were killed, and another 30 were injured and transported to nearby health facilities.

Local officials told Tolo News two attackers carried out the bombing at Jawadia Mosque, in the Dehr Abad area, and one opened fire inside the building. One of the bombers died in the blast.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
