July 23 (UPI) -- Two Jordanian men died and an Israeli man was seriously wounded during an incident Sunday inside Israel's embassy in Amman, the kingdom's Public Security Directorate said. The Jordanians had entered an apartment building in the compound to perform carpentry work, the statement said.

The statement did not say what triggered the incident, but a source earlier told Al Jazeera the men quarreled. One of the men killed was a physician at the scene, the security agency said.
The Israeli man was in "unstable" condition, said the news site Hala Akhbar, linked to the Jordanian military.
Israeli authorities evacuated staff at the embassy, which is located in the Rabiyeh neighborhood, an affluent part of Amman, Jordan's capital.
Large numbers of security personnel were on the scene, according to Ammon News.
Israeli authorities did not release any information regarding the incident, which comes amid increased tensions between Israelis and Muslims.
Israel installed metal detectors last week and added security cameras Sunday near the entrance of Temple Mount in Old Jerusalem. On July 14, two Israeli officers were killed and the three terrorists were later shot to death at the compound, which is sacred to Muslims and Jews.
Jordan is the official custodian of Muslim holy sites in Jerusalem, but Israel handles security.
On Friday, about 8,000 Jordanians took to the streets of Amman to denounce the added security at the site.
