July 7 (UPI) -- Turbulence on at least two Korean Air flights caused delays at the main airport on Jeju Island, the southernmost region of South Korea.

A Korean Air flight that left the South Korean city of Busan on Friday morning, and was scheduled to land at 11:05 a.m. at Jeju Airport, could not make a landing until after the third attempt, local news service No Cut News reported.

Flight trouble was attributed to clear-air turbulence, although the turbulent movement of air masses usually occurs at high altitudes.

The island had also received a wind shear warning at about 7:30 a.m.

Wind shear warnings are issued when a storm is approaching. It can occur at high or low altitudes.

Korean Air pilots attempted to re-land the aircraft, turning and circling the airport several times, and it arrived at its destination an hour behind schedule.

Another Korean Air flight that was scheduled to arrive at Jeju Airport at 11:50 a.m. after departing from Daegu, Korea's third-largest city, was delayed by nearly 20 minutes.

The delays in landing for Korean Air occurred the same day South Korean investigators seized and searched the airlines' headquarters in Seoul, Yonhap reported.

Police said they secured a warrant to search and confiscate the office building, because they had obtained evidence the firm could have been involved in embezzlement, according to the report.
