May 3 (UPI) -- A suicide bomber targeting a NATO convoy killed at least eight people Wednesday in Kabul, Afghanistan security and health officials said.

The explosion struck armoured personnel carriers used by the NATO-led Resolute Support mission near a National Directorate Security checkpoint.

Wahid Majrouh, a health ministry spokesman, told Al Jazeera that at least 23 people were injured.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The blast came several days after the Taliban announced a "spring offensive" targeting foreign troops.

Last month, a Taliban attack on an Afghan army base killed at least 140 soldiers.
