Several firefights in San Pedro de Macorís' Miramar sector occurred from late Tuesday through early Wednesday. Officials have identified the prime suspect, Diario Libre reported.

Macorís Del Mar reported that officials arrested the prime suspects, but José Channel Desi Gómez, a deputy prosecutor, did not confirm this, adding that more information will be revealed later on Wednesday.

Medina was in the middle of his broadcast, which he was streaming via Facebook live, when the shooting began. In the final seconds of the video, Medina continues to carry out his program despite the sound of gunfire. A woman is heard entering the room from which Medina is broadcasting and screaming "Shot! Shot! Shot!"
