HASAKA, Syria, Oct. 4 (UPI) -- At least 22 people were killed by a suicide bomber during a Kurdish wedding party in Northeast Syria on Tuesday.

The militant group tweeted a member of their organization had first used a machine gun, then blew himself up in his attack against the "PKK apostates."

The wedding was for a member of the Syrian Democratic Forces, a mostly Kurdish group fighting the Islamic State in the north. The groom was killed in the attack.

The attack comes as the Islamic States continues to lose ground to rebel groups in the month-old Operation Euphrates launched by Turkey along its border with Syria.
