Journalist reportedly arrested in Nigeria for links to Boko Haram

ABUJA, Nigeria, Sept. 6 (UPI) -- Journalist Ahmed Salkida, wanted by Nigerian authorities for his alleged knowledge of the location of more than 200 girls kidnapped by Boko Haram in 2014, was reportedly arrested.

Salkida, one of three people sought for inside knowledge of the Islamist organization that has terrorized northern Nigeria, was arrested Monday at Abuja's airport as he arrived from Dubai, media reports said. Nigeria's Ministry of Defense, however, said it was unaware of an arrest.

Salkida was wanted by the Nigerian army after the release of a video showing some of the schoolgirls abducted from a school and in Boko Haram custody. He said he was not a fugitive and would present himself to Nigerian authorities to explain what he knew about Boko Haram's inner workings.

Salkida, Aisha Waliki and Ahmed Bolori were sought by authorities for their alleged links to Boko Haram. Waliki voluntarily surrendered in August and was questioned by Nigerian officials, then released.
