DIYARBAKIR, Turkey, May 10 (UPI) -- Militants bombed a police escort of seven recently detained Kurdish militants, killing three people and wounding 45 others Tuesday, officials said. The armored minibus exploded in the center of city, the Diyarbakir Governor's Office said.

The victims included police officers and detained Kurdistan Workers' Party -- or PKK -- terror suspects in the police vehicle and some civilians in the nearby area. The loud explosion was heard across the city.
The detainees were being transported for a routine health check after being detained for allegedly being being members of the PKK.
No terror group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
The PKK and the Turkish government have been fighting since 1984, first over Kurdish independence, though more recently for greater autonomy and rights.
More than 430 members of the security forces have been killed in the clashes.
In March, a car bomb detonated near a bus stop in Diyarbakir, killing seven police officers and injuring 27 people.
