TOKYO, Jan. 19 (UPI) -- Yasutaro Koide, the world's oldest man, died Tuesday at age 112 at a hospital in Nagoya, Japan.
Local officials said he died of heart failure and pneumonia. Koide worked as a tailor when he was younger.
Japan has more than 61,000 centenarians and 90 percent of them are women. It is unclear who succeeds Koide as the world's oldest man, but the title of world's oldest person is held by Susannah Mushatt Jones, a 116-year-old American woman living in Brooklyn, N.Y.
The oldest man in Japan is now Masamitsu Yoshida, 111, who lives in Tokyo.
