AeroMobil flying car crashes during test flight

BRATISLAVA, Slovakia, May 10 (UPI) -- AeroMobil, the company trying to release the first flying car, recently crashed its prototype during a test flight in Slovakia.

Stefan Klein, cofounder of the company, was piloting the car when he experienced "an unexpected situation," according to a statement. He was 900 feet in the air, and he was able to deploy a parachute to prevent the crash from being catastrophic.

Klein did not suffer any major injuries, and the company is analyzing data from the car to figure out exactly what happened.

"It is necessary to test the prototype in every way possible to establish its limits and to improve on them," the statement says. "The flight recording details will help us learn from the data and improve the performance of the vehicle prior to our next flight test."

The company recently announced it intends to begin working on self-flying cars.
