BEIJING, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- The steel bars of a scaffold collapsed at a sports-stadium construction site, killing 10 at a Beijing high school.
Four people were injured and taken to nearby hospitals, but were in stable condition, according to Xinhua, Chinese state media.
Beijing Mayor Wang Anshun visited the site as an investigation was launched after the accident on the south side of Tsinghua High School's campus.

Police detained people "directly responsible for the accident" including an executive of the construction company.
A woman, identified as Zhang, and her husband were binding steel bars together when the bars "collapsed suddenly," she said.
No students were injured and the school remained open.
