According to Egypt's Interior Ministry, the device had been placed on a luggage rack. Authorities believe the device was intended to cause loud noise rather than inflict damage.

It is unclear who was responsible for the "sound bomb."

The attack comes a day after a bomb was detonated on a railway track in Egypt's Sharqiya Governorate, between Zagazig and Mansoura.
