BEIJING, Nov. 10 (UPI) -- During the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Beijing on Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin gave the president of China's wife his coat, and censors were not happy.

Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan were seated between U.S. President Barack Obama and Putin during the summit. While Xi was talking to Obama, Putin and Peng began to talk, and Putin ended up giving Peng his coat.

They were in the Water Cube of the building used for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, which can get cold. She quickly took it off, but Chinese news cameras captured the interaction.

The Chinese government appears to be worried the interaction could appear to be a romantic gesture, because they have scrubbed video and photos of the situation from social media and news sources.

Vladimir Putin went through a divorce in April and has been single since then.
