U.S. citizen killed, another wounded at gas station in Saudi Arabia

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, Oct. 14 (UPI) -- A U.S. citizen was shot and killed in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, and another American wounded.

The attack on the unidentified Americans occurred at a gas station east of Riyadh.

According to a statement from the state-run Saudi Press Agency, "The attack resulted in the killing of one person and wounding another and it turned out they were of American citizenship."

While the motive of the shooting is not yet known, the SPA's statement suggests the two Americans were not targeted because of their nationality.

The American embassy in Riyadh and the State Department have not yet commented on the attack.
