MIAMI, Sept. 2 (UPI) -- Tropical Storm Dolly is expected to make landfall along the eastern Gulf Coast of Mexico on Tuesday, dumping rain and bringing high winds, but not predicted to strengthen to a hurricane.
The center of the storm was about 150 miles south-southeast of La Pesca, Mexico, around 2 p.m. Tuesday, and is expected to continue to travel west-northwest throughout the afternoon until it hits land, the National Hurricane Center said Tuesday.
Ahead of landfall, Dolly had maximum sustained winds of 50 miles per hour and was moving at 12 miles per hour. The NHC predicted Dolly would turn west and head inland into Wednesday morning.
As much as 15 inches of rain is predicted to drop on parts of Tamaulipas and Nuevo Leon states. A tropical storm warning is in effect from Cabo Rojo to Barra el Mezquital.
